BIO-IDENTICAL HORMONE REPLACEMENT THERAPY

We can help replace the hormones that your body needs naturally.
We often assume that fatigue, weight gain, and a sagging sex drive are natural and inevitable symptoms of aging. It is true that both men and women can experience these "typical" symptoms as their hormone levels fluctuate throughout their life. Fortunately, bio-identical hormone management can relieve (and in some cases, reverse) these inevitable “signs of aging,” helping your body maintain its health and vitality.

Recognizing the Signs of a Hormone Imbalance

The levels of essential hormones like estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, and cortisol often begin to decline or fluctuate for most people as they enter their early to mid-thirties. This can cause a variety of symptoms, which may include:

  • Hot flashes
  • Night sweats
  • Difficulty sleeping
  • Tiredness and chronic fatigue
  • Changes in mood
  • Memory loss
  • Loss of libido
  • Sexual dysfunction
  • Feelings of anxiety and depression
  • Weight gain
  • High cholesterol
  • High blood pressure
  • Bone demineralization
Bio-identical hormone replacement therapy can relieve or reverse these symptoms through careful monitoring and replenishment of essential hormone levels in the body.

What are bio-identical hormones?

It is important to understand that bio-identical hormones are not the same as synthetic hormones. Unlike synthetic hormones, bio-identical hormones have the exact same molecular structure as the hormones naturally found in the human body. Because these hormones are recognized as essentially the same by our bodies, this therapy is considered safer for most patients, with far fewer side effects.

How do bio-identical hormone therapy work?

Patients are carefully evaluated, which will include a hormone panel (lab testing of current hormone levels). Upon careful assessment of the lab results and the patient's symptoms, bio-identical hormones or trans-dermal cream therapy may be prescribed. Diet and lifestyle changes may also be recommended to maintain optimum hormone balance.

How does it work?

Patients will undergo a complete evaluation and testing, including lab testing of current hormone levels (commonly called a “hormone panel”). When necessary, a precise dosage of bio-identical estrogen, progesterone and testosterone will be prescribed. In some cases, trans-dermal cream therapy is the optimum choice.

Every patient will be monitored carefully and have hormone levels checked every few months in order to provide symptom relief with the lowest possible dosage of bio-identical hormones.

In addition to prescribing bio-identical hormones, Dr. Amechi-Obigwe also works with patients to make diet and lifestyle changes that support optimal hormone balance.
